Classic fragrances are back for A/W 2010

Classic scents appear to be back in trend for the autumn and winter season; however there are of course the selected few that never seem to go out of fashion, such as the infamous Chanel Number 5 for example, such a scent never seems to go out of favour and is a firm favourite of many stylish individuals and one that is also a fail safe option.

Chloe’s latest show to hit the runway donned the 70s look, the designs certainly appeared to have taken a few styles notes from this season’s hit show, Mad Men.   Harrods’ the prestigious department store recently launched the Perfume Diaries, which was in fact curated by Perfumer Roja Dove, the Perfume Diaries appeared as a narrative of the history of fragrance right through from ancient times to the modern day.  Both of the above labels have taken a step back into the fashion and beauty of bygone days.

The classics are the scents that rise above those trends that come and go and in turn secure a faithful following for decades, some brands have even been popular for centuries.  

A few such fragrances that are must-have investments for the autumn and winter season include Guerlain’s Mitsouko, which starts at a price of £46.50 and comes in the shape of an EDT.  This particular scent offers mysterious notes and a temperamental edge, it has however been impeccably created.

Another aroma that always seems to be at the forefront of fashion is Dior Poison.  This scent offers a strong, rich aroma that appears particularly evocative.  Dior Poison costs a total of £35.50 for a 30ml sized EDT.

Another classic that has been around for many years is Penhaligon’s Blenheim Bouquet, this scent was originally created as a mans aftershave in 1902, however the notes of  lemon, lime, lavender, pine and black pepper make it a fresh, modern and feminine scent that is most definitely suitable for women.  Penhaligon’s Blenheim Bouquet is priced at a total of £70 for 100ml.
