Darkness descends onto the catwalk.

This season’s catwalks were awash with berry shades and these shades are certainly proving to be a defiant new look for the autumn and winter season for 2010.  It has been described as a trend that is set to be ongoing and will be the perfect transformation from the bright hues of summer.   The catwalk revealed an array of ultra glossy and contrasting chalky styles as well as matte burgundy, blackcurrant and Bordeaux shades.  All of these colours should be the ones to add to your make up palette for the autumn season.

At the Charles Anastase show deep blood red was the statement colour and one that adorned a majority of the models lips.  The lip shade was painted crisply on to models’ lips and paired with alabaster skin. At the Issa runway wine-stained lips were teamed with a heavy-flicked eye liner in order to reveal a dramatic look.

Dark lipstick was appeared in its glossiest form at Antonio Berardi, whilst over at Gucci the make-up artist Gucci Westman created lips in aubergine in order to add a certain edge to an otherwise polished look, the statement lips were finished with lashings off mascara, which revealed wispy pretty lashes.

Proenza Schouler however seemed to be the favourite and showcased a charred purple stain that was pressed on to lips with casual ease.  For best results and in order to recreate the look, team these statement lips with tousled messy styled hair and of course a laidback and cool attitude.  This will allow for the ultimate AW on trend statement.
